Since the launch of the fourth campaign, new Dungeon Master Brennan Mulligan has kept viewers on edge with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of heroes, and a gripping narrative including celestial beings, fiends, and sinister influences growing in influence within the urban setting.
Warning: Key plot points for the third episode of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Soldiers Table Unveiled
Episode 3 finished on a huge suspense moment and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to begin their own adventure, separate from the other two tables.
This warrior group features the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (Laura Bailey), the strong-willed figure (Whitney), Wicander (Sam), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie Daymond).
Why Split the Party?
With an extensive roster, it was evident from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before splitting into three separate parties: Warriors, Schemers, and Questers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the warrior group is for players who enjoy a classically intense battle-oriented gameplay experience where non-violent answers are few and far between.
At first glance, characters like the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the combat party.
Why They Must Go
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to go next after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
A former ally of Thjazi—whose death initiated the campaign’s events—used the foes for his personal gain, breaking into the hidden lair, attacking Thimble, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
Casimir then settled his debts and ran away to a secure base in the remote area, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd Pridesire hot on his heels.
Individual Reasons
Additionally, each member has a specific drive to depart the metropolitan area:
- The agile hero, as Thjazi’s partner and best friend, desires vengeance.
- The adventurer knows the northern area and advises that it is a nasty place.
- The warrior and Wicander, having defied his relatives’ demands to kill Teor and instead rescued him, have no other options.
- Yet, their reputation as prominent individuals in the influential clan could enable the team enter places they usually can’t.
- Furthermore, The grateful character swore a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him wherever.
Pursued by Authorities
In addition, all of them are sought by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city no longer safe:
- The rogue and Kattigan are known criminals.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the powerful family and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The fighter is targeted for elimination by the family.
This leaves them little choice but to travel to the northern region in quest for the antagonist.
Upcoming Developments
From the recent installment’s follow-up content, we discover that the combat party won’t be around the following episode, leaving the other eight participants to round up the Explorers and Strategists parties.
Viewers can anticipate discovering which characters will be in which group in Campaign 4’s concluding setup installment, available to watch on October 24.
